Outreach

The Basic Needs and Emergency Fund (BNEF) is directed by the Claire McNulty-Drewes of the Lyons Community Church and is supported by it's own advisory board.

This fund offers to help community members in an urgent situation.  The aid comes through an allocated amount of money that goes toward paying a bill.  The money is never given directly to the individual seeking help, but to the third party in question. The fund has helped support housing and utility related needs, medical emergencies and transportation needs.

For assistance or to apply for a grant from the BNEF, contact Claire at 303.532.6840 or via email.

Claire explains for those requiring assistance, "A little help goes a long way".

The Lyons Community Food Bank is open every Wednesday, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.    We are a member of Community Food Share and can offer shoppers items like meat and dairy. Come on by to shop or volunteer your help!

Lets keep stocking the food pantry!

What we need:

breakfast cereal, canned meats (tuna in water) chicken, etc
fruit juice, peanut butter, jelly, honey,  cooking oil
We can always
use non-food items like toilet paper, dish soap, shampoo, laundry detergent.

Want to volunteer at the food pantry on an as-needed basis? We would love to have a short list of volunteers who could possibly fill in at the last minute (or day) when necessary. Please see Nancy if you are interested.

Monthly Meal Program for Seniors: In partnership with The River Church,  LCC will be providing a free,   hot meal to our seniors and others in the community who  are food insecure on the THIRD Monday of each month.  Deb Tabor has graciously taken on the leadership of this new program, and will be asking for folks to bring side dishes,  as well as other dishes to help feed those in the community.   If you are willing to help set up,  provide food,  or do any other service, please let Deb know.  What a wonderful way to be part of our community!
